Not a trash removal service... Only boxes that are clean & in good reusable condition
Philly Box Exchange is independently and locally operated. It was created to assist in waste reduction, contributing to ecological balance. Philly Box Exchange hopes to encourage the public to take part locally and to live responsibly.
How it works...
• Philly Box Exchange will make the boxes suitable for further use and help reduce the demand for resources required to make new products.
• Philly Box Exchange will inform people on where available boxes are being disposed.
In doing this, the boxes that are being donated will help strenghten the community of Philadelphia. According to the Clean Air Council of Philadelphia, 95% of our waste ends up in landfills or incinerators. Considering the fact that Philadelphia was the first city to mandate recycling in '87 it's embarrassing that there's only 5% residential recycling. This places us eighth out of the nine major US cities with curbside recycling programs and populations over 1 million. Let's take care of our city and do what we can to improve this situation by reusing things and in turn reducing what is currently 95% likely to just get burned or buried. Furthermore, utilizing donated boxes will save you money.
